Collabor8online – Captive Promotions
Collabor8online wanted a presenter-led video with just one person talking to camera to deliver the concept of the business. Piece-to-camera videos can sometimes date very quickly and struggle to hold the viewers attention until the end. Therefore Captive North decided to adapt the concept with a simple visual twist to keep the audience engaged while at the same time delivering the client’s message.
“Captive North believes in innovation, even on a modest budget. A lot of our clients have a general idea of what they want to achieve but we take the time to push their marketing strategy to the next level and keep it current and engaging. I’ve seen many businesses release their own ‘piece-to-camera’ videos just so that they can simply have a video on their website. It’s understandable, video is a very popular medium and it’s cheap to sit someone down in a chair and point a home movie camera at them. The problem with this is a poor quality video gives the wrong impression. After all, quality speaks for quality. So how do you keep the budget down without going for the obvious?”
“On this project, we started with the basic fundamentals; we sat a man in a chair and pointed a camera at him. Next, we scripted and rehearsed the scenario. This was followed by a box of props and a lot of string. Suddenly the audience has something to watch while the presenter talks, which often makes the difference between, “oh, this is interesting,” and “zzzzzzzzz”.”
“To enhance the visuals we removed the generic office staging and incorporated a colourful backdrop and professional 4-point lighting. This is all relatively low cost providing you have the expert touch."
Project Brief:
